2004 Senior Jazz Festival:
Tom Borning will host, thanks
Tom. The festival dates are April
1 and 2, 2004.
A motion was made to reduce the director's fee from $600.00
to $400.00 to reflect the number of students and the length of the
festival. After discussion, MSP.
A motion was made to increase
the ticket price to $8.00. After
discussion the motion was defeated.
A motion was made to raise
the audition fee to $8.00, MSP.
2004 Junior Festival:

February 11, 2004 Nauset Middle School Mariellen Sears, Host
Chorus
It is thought that Sue Linton at the Oak Ridge School in
Sandwich had mentioned hosting.

A tentative date of May 4, 2003 was given by Falmouth host

FESTIVAL TOPICS/CONCERNS
1) Registration
Joe Studley reviewed the registration process with everyone.
2) Fee's
A motion was made to
eliminate lunches from the Senior Festival due to increase cost. After discussion the motion was
defeated.
A motion was made to increase
the festival fee by 10% to off set the increase in the cost of food. MSP
3)Audition site
Dennis-Yarmouth will host in
November 19, 2003.
A new host is needed for 2004
and 2005. Mashpee will host.

4) Audition selections
Junior district selections
for band (exception flute)
Senior district selections
for orchestra (students may use the junior district selections and 1 point will
be added to the score of students who play the senior district music)
Senior district selection for
chorus (Site reading will be added this year)
A motion was made to
eliminate the presto movement for clarinet. MSP
A motion was made to
eliminate the three minute percussion solo from the audition. MSP
5) Instrumentation
No sharing of performers.
6) Sight Singing
Sight singing will be added
to the vocal auditions. There will
be a keyboard in each room.
7) The use of a taped vocal audition
A motion was made to continue
to accept vocal audition tapes from Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. MSP
8) Judges
There will be one judge per
choral room.
9) Conductors
There was discussion about
using CCMEA members to conduct Thursday evening rehearsals during the Senior
Festival. Opinions were negative.
10)Choral managers were asked
to research the availability of performance tapes of selected festival pieces.
11)Publicity
Directors are asked to submit
press releases announcing participating students during the month of
December. If possible, please
include concert date and time to help boost attendance.
12) Festival Rules
No driving to and from the
festival. All participants will
wear black and white.
13) Please submit the names
of students who are not allowed to audition in November 2003.
OLD BUSINESS
1) Sturgis Proposal
Letters were sent out with
some response. It is hoped that
there will be a gathering of some of the choral groups.
NEW BUSINESS
1) BY-LAWS REVISION REPORT
Fred Johnson submitted all
the new items for consideration.
2) WINTER MEETING
The winter meeting will be
Saturday February 8, 2004 at Barnstable High School.
2) SPRING MEETING
The Spring meeting will be June
15,2004 at Hy-Port Brewery.
