Welcome:
Chris welcomed everyone and thanked George Scharr and the Cape Cod Symphony
for providing dinner. George briefly described his job as education director
of the symphony. This year the education program is very ambitious. Please encourage
your students to audition for scholarships.
Cape Symphony’s name has been changed to the Cape Cod Symphony. The website
will remain capesymphony.org.
Johnson Strings:
Clayton Marsh from Johnson Strings brought catalogs and spoke about the products
and services offered. They’d like to participate in the rental of stringed
instruments in the schools. They do rent cellos and basses and there is a shop
ion Falmouth.
Cape Cod Chorale:
Chris Roberts spoke on behalf of Peter Howes from the Cape Cod Chorale. The
Cape Cod Chorale offers a scholarship for vocal students who are planning to
major in voice in college. The scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.00. Last
year only one student applied for the scholarship. The selection process is
through application and recommendation. There are no auditions. The information
has gone to high school guidance offices. Deborah suggested that the chorale
send the information directly to the choral directors. Chris will ask the chorale
to do that.
Secretary’s Report:
Minutes were submitted and amended. Norma Kelley will be removed from the attendance
and Rose Richards will be listed as the manager, not conductor. MSP
Treasurer’s Report:
Norma Kelley submitted the report. MSP
Auditions:
Joe Studley reported that he forgot to include a password card in the audition
packets. He will email the passwords tomorrow. Please register early so that
managers will know how many adjudicators and audition rooms are needed. Auditions
will be held at Mattacheese Middle School.
Norma Kelley asked that directors please specify where you’d like the
bills to be sent. Also Norma isn’t at DY High School so please sent payments
to N.H. Wixon Middle School 901 Rte. 134 South Dennis Ma. 02660.
Audition Forms:
The idea to remove the “below average” terminology which was brought
up at the meeting last June was revisited by Chris. He apologized that he hadn’t
had the opportunity to make up packets from other auditions so that there could
be discussion. This will be tabled until the February meeting.
Manager’s Update:
Ira Schaeffer will be that conductor for the orchestra and Alex Pendleton will
be the assistant manager.
Conductor Expenses:
CCMEA provided roundtrip airfare coach class for conductors coming from out
of state.

junior band workshop at Nauset, and Janice Hannah will host the junior choral

New Business:
