Senior Festival
Managers' Reports
Band: Lisa Fournier, Manager, Tom Borning, asst. (for an ailing LaVada)
David Garcia of Bridgewater State College, Conductor.
David keeps thanking her for inviting him to conduct!
Thank you to band directors: all students are polite and courteous; she has not had to quiet anyone.

Chorus: Ned Rosenblatt, Vickie Vieira, asst.
Jamie Spillane of Ledyard, CT , Conductor.
Ned was accompanying, so Vickie gave the report. The chorus has improved tremendously since Thursday. The conductor took out the easy piece and stuck with the hard pieces. It is amazing to hear them because some pieces are All State material. Conductor is very positive and just continues on an even keel.

Orchestra: Eric Wendelken, Ira Schaefer, assistant
Sandy Dackow, Conductor. A demanding but excellent conductor; students are growing, musically - Sandy knows exactly what she wants!

Housing: Barbara Elder
All Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard students were housed, thanks to Falmouth, Mashpee, Dennis-Yarmouth, and Barnstable.
She'll be happy to do it again next year.
Suggestions will be appreciated.
Falmouth Academy and Wareham volunteered to host students.
Provincetown MAY be housed next year.

Conductors, Programs, and Schedules
Conductors and their Programs:
Managers for 2002 Festival - get ideas for your programs ASAP:
1. Have three different program posibilities with the conductor so the association can look at it in the June 2001 meeting. We need a variety of difficulty.
2. Then, at the fall meeting submit it to the full membership after refining it with the conductor.
3. Please remember that we need to adhere to the time frame of twenty minutes per ensemble (including walking on and off).
A suggestion was made to create a CD library of past concerts to aid managers and prospective conductors in choice of music.
Fred will order three tapes for next year's conductors.
Schedule:
Tony talked to quite a few people Thursday night. All felt 9 pm was a late night. Possibly 8:30 would be better. Here is how the change of times wll be next year:
Thursday: 3 - 8:30 pm.
Friday: 8:45 - 3 pm.
Lunch schedules: Tony will ask administration to close the senior cafeteria an hour earlier for next year and future festival lunches.

FESTIVAL "2002"

Auditions
Audition day: Wednesday, November 14, 2001.

M/S/P There will be two soprano and alto audition rooms, each with two judges. There will be one tenor and one bass audition rooms, each with one judge.
Adjudicators:
Fred will update the adjudicators list. Please bring three or four names from your area to the June meeting.
Tabulation process: It was great to get out of the audition evening at a decent hour (earlier than the past). Also, it was convenient to bring all materials in at one time.
Audition Rooms: Seemed too close to each other, creating a bleeding over of sound. This made it difficult for students and judges alike to concentrate.

Junior Festivals 2001 (This year)
Band: Mike Persico, Mashpee HS. Date - February 14; 8:30 am - 1:45 pm with a 1:00 Concert. Reach Mike at 539-3600. Press "o" for Office. Leave messages.
Chorus: Vickie Vieira for LaVada Studley. Date - Tuesday, April 10; 8:30 am - 1:45 pm @ Mashpee High School. So far there are two conductors and two songs for the concert! We need some more! Contact Vickie ASAP!

President-Elect (to be President September 2002)

Old Business
Our next meeting is Tuesday, June 12 at 6:00 pm. Place TBA. Fred Johnson will let us know where. Next year's managers bring program ideas.
Tom Borning is the Librarian and has all music from the past three years. He will post the list of titles on the website.

New Business
To be put on June's agenda:
1. Discussion on monies lost through John Brooks $18 recordings.
2. Why is the audition host getting a stipend and the festival host is not? We all agree festival host school SHOULD get a stipend!
Cape Symphony Orchestra announced scholarship auditions.
Fred will talk to Eric Bornstein:
1. We missed you at this meeting.
2. We have concerns regarding rotating liasons with school districts:
Have master classes for older instrumentalists in addition to the elementary concerts.
3. If there is no response, John New will draft a letter for Fred Johnson to send to Eric Bornstein.
Marcia will compile what e-mail addresses members have submitted and send the list to Joe Studley for posting on the website. E-mail address information will include names, teaching area, and instrument.

The meeting adjourned at 11:56 am.
Respectfully submitted by
Marcia J. Wytrwal
